Dear Andover Athletics Club Members,
On Saturday 21st October, the Government announced a second lockdown with effect from 00:01 on Thursday 5thNovember. The lockdown is scheduled to last for four weeks, until 2nd December.
Although the guidance states that up to two people from different households may meet for the purpose of exercise, for practical purposes, all training and competition must cease. This will include track, field and the clubhouse.
Further to previous notifications, AAC are currently following England Athletics, Home Country Athletics Federations and UK Government guidelines regarding our current training and competing.
The Andover Athletic Club committee has not been aware of any club member being affected by the Covid-19 virus. However, should you feel at all unwell through ANY cause, please take appropriate action and seek medical advice if necessary. This will help with your recovery as much as preventing the spread of any illness.
Where possible, athletes and runners at all levels are encouraged to maintain their own personal fitness and keep active during this time, while following government guidelines about hand washing, wearing a mask, keeping a safe distance and safe exercise environments*. Your coach may contact you directly if they have any plans for your on-going training.
England Athletics will continue to review and monitor government advice and will provide detailed updates on the impact to our sport in the coming weeks. We will contact you as and when there are any changes.
Stay safe, Stay well.
Tom Evison – Chairman ( email@example.com )
* Evenings are darker and colder than they were in the first lockdown. Day time training may not be a possibility. Take care where and when you train. Ensure you train in family groups, with a family member nearby or at least knows where you are. Do not be tempted to use the Charlton Athletic Track alone. Floodlights may not be on during the lockdown. The club’s insurance will not cover you and you may be open to a penalty fine.

All of us in our day to day lives are in some way responsible for aspects of health and safety. In this respect, we ask that if you see anything that worries you, appears to be hazardous or in need of maintenance around the club house or track, to inform one of the coaches or volunteers as soon as possible, and if you can help to rectify the problem that would be much appreciated.
We thank you for taking the time to read this. Please come and talk to us if you wish to volunteer some of your time or have any questions or concerns.
